Abdulla is an enthusiastic senior architecture student at the University of Bahrain with an interest in documentation, urban design, and human behavior.

Ever since Abdulla was young, architecture was his passion. Creating buildings that respect, respond, and represent their site and users is a priority for me, Abdulla always thrives on success and exploring new opportunities.

Task: Manama/Bab Al Bahrain Gateway

The area of Bab Al Bahrain is the historic center of the capital, Manama. Currently, a large car parking lot is located very close to the monument building of Bab Al Bahrain and takes away from the area’s beauty.

Abdulla AlBazzaz was tasked with converting the car parking lot into a public square for the area’s residents to benefit from, and for it to be a gateway into the historic area of Bab Al Bahrain.

Intervention:

Abdulla AlBazzaz achieved his task by transforming the car parking lot into a public squared filled with vegetation, children’s playground, and spaces for commercial activities (mainly coffee shops or small food vending area). Most importantly, the proposal includes an underground car park where it will be hidden from the surface level.
